On July 21, the Handover Ceremony of the Oversized Barge VTT 01 (SG 9410) between Vietranstimex Multimodal Transport Joint Stock Company and Truc Minh Construction Transport Trading and Services Co., Ltd took place successfully.

The event was held at Cho Kinh Nuoc Man, Huong Lo 34, Long Huu Dong Commune, Can Duoc District, Long An Province. The ceremony was attended by Mr. David Lien – Member of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietranstimex, Mr. Van Cong Trang – Director of Truc Minh Co., Ltd, representatives of ITL Group, Sotrans Group and its member companies, as well as valued customers, partners, and members from both companies.

A major turning point in business expansion

In his opening speech, Mr. David Lien – General Director of Vietranstimex affirmed that the handover of the VTT 01 (SG 9410) barge marks a significant milestone in innovating and expanding the business orientation of Vietranstimex. With a 46-year history, Vietranstimex is renowned for transporting oversized and overweight cargo by road for key national projects.

With the reception of the VTT 01 (SG 9410) barge and plans to develop more specialized barge fleets in the near future, Vietranstimex is step-by-step implementing its “Reaching the Great Ocean” business strategy. This involves investing and collaborating with major partners to deploy Logistics supply chains for Renewable Energy projects in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Representing the partner, Mr. Van Cong Trang – Director of Truc Minh Co., Ltd sent his congratulations to Vietranstimex and expressed hope that the cooperation between the two parties will continue to achieve even greater success in the future.

Technical specifications and operational capacity

The Oversized Barge VTT 01 (SG 9410) features a non-propelled steel hull structure with the following technical specifications

• Capacity Total deadweight of 7,000 DWT.

• Dimensions 86m x 24m x 4.8m x 2.8m.

• Deck Load 15 tons per square meter.

This is the first and most crucial river-sea transport vessel in Vietranstimex’s integrated fleet of specialized equipment for multimodal oversized and overweight transportation.

Designed as a flexible inland and coastal transport vessel with optimal design according to VR-SB registration standards, the operational area of the VTT SG 9410 barge is not limited to specific regions. It can operate multi-tasked and flexibly across the entire seaport cluster of the Southeast coastal region and the inland waterway system of the Southwest provinces.

Equipped to handle oversized lengths, the VTT 01 (SG 9410) barge along with Vietranstimex’s existing specialized equipment is expected to meet the requirements for transporting equipment for wind power, gas power, and potential oil and gas projects implemented under Power Plan 8 in Vietnam.
