The Sowatco Master, with a capacity of 300 TEUs (5,000 tons), commenced construction on December 24, 2020. Despite being built during the Lunar New Year and amidst the peak of the fourth COVID-19 wave, the vessel was successfully launched after more than 10 months of construction. This achievement was made possible through the relentless efforts of the Sowatco Shipyard team and contractors, the active support from functional departments, and the close supervision of the Board of Directors.

Affirming Sowatco’s position in inland waterway transport

The successful launch of the Sowatco Master, equipped with a bow thruster, is a source of great pride and marks a technological milestone for Sowatco. To date, the Sowatco Master stands as the most modern and largest vessel in Vietnam’s inland waterway transport market. This achievement further demonstrates the determination and decisiveness of Sowatco’s Board of Directors in reinforcing the brand’s strength as an expert in ports and waterways, while honoring Sowatco Shipyard’s pioneering position in inland shipbuilding technology over the years.

On this occasion, the General Director of Sowatco acknowledges and expresses gratitude to the Sowatco team and contractors for their relentless efforts in overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly while operating under “3-on-site” (work-eat-sleep) mandates with limited facilities and being away from their families for three months.

SOTRANS Group, along with its subsidiaries Vietranstimex and SOTRANS Logistics, congratulates Sowatco on their solidarity in overcoming every obstacle, from tight schedules and technical complexities to living conditions and health risks during the pandemic, to bring the Sowatco Master project to a successful conclusion.

Sowatco’s proud achievements serve as a powerful motivation, significantly helping the SOTRANS Group family move forward with firm confidence in our vision and strategy for the journey ahead.
