In early October, Mr. Marco Thanh, CEO of SOTRANS Group and Vice President of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), led a Vietnamese business delegation to the FIATA World Congress 2023 (FWC 2023) held in Brussels, Belgium. This mission is regarded as a significant step for the Vietnamese logistics industry to acquire knowledge on “greening and digitalization.”
Climate is changing logistics
FWC 2023 took place from October 1 to October 6 under the theme “The Climate is Changing Logistics.” The event attracted over 1,000 delegates from 80 countries, featuring 72 speakers and 27 meetings and discussion sessions. Global logistics enterprises were well-represented, including nearly 20 delegates from Vietnam who are leaders of the VLA and major international logistics companies.
This event provided a crucial opportunity for Vietnamese logistics firms to exchange ideas, connect, learn from international experience, and cooperate for development. The insights gained regarding digitalization and greening will be applied in Vietnam, supporting its goal to become a larger and more sustainable logistics hub.
Strategic visions for sustainable development
According to Mr. Marco Thanh – CEO of SOTRANS Group, the theme “The Climate is Changing Logistics” is highly relevant to the current era. The Vietnamese logistics industry is steering towards sustainable development and greening to adapt to these global shifts. He expressed hope that Vietnamese logistics enterprises would embrace new trends and find solutions to adapt to climate change and the contemporary business environment.
High-level diplomatic and professional engagement
Within the framework of the event, FIATA President Ivan Petrov and Mr. Stéphane Graber met and worked with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed a desire to strengthen ties between Vietnam and FIATA. He emphasized that Vietnam needs to cooperate closely with FIATA to develop the logistics sector in line with global trends, enhance international competitiveness, and receive support in human resource training, organizational management, and technology development.
FIATA World Congress 2023 provided SOTRANS Group with a valuable opportunity to engage with and learn from leading partners and experts in the global logistics field. The knowledge and experience gained from this event are expected to help SOTRANS Group improve service quality and contribute to the sustainable development of the logistics industry in Vietnam.
