Important Guidelines for Blood Donors
To ensure the health of volunteers and the quality of donated blood, the Organizing Committee recommends that volunteers strictly follow these pre- and post-donation guidelines
1. Before Blood Donation
-
Rest Do not stay up too late the night before and ensure at least 6 hours of sleep.
-
Diet Eat light meals and avoid foods high in protein or fat.
-
Alcohol DO NOT drink alcohol or beer before donating.
-
Preparation Drink plenty of water and bring personal identification documents to the donation site.
2. Immediately After Blood Donation
-
Rest at Site Spend at least 15 minutes resting at the donation location.
-
Arm Care Keep the arm straight and slightly elevated for the first 15 minutes and avoid folding the arm during rest.
-
Health Monitoring If you feel tired, dizzy, or break out in a cold sweat, sit or lie down immediately, preferably with legs elevated, and notify medical staff for timely support.
3. Within 48 Hours After Donation
-
Nutrition Continue to drink plenty of water and maintain a normal diet and lifestyle. Increase intake of blood-nourishing nutrients such as meat, liver, eggs, and milk.
-
Physical Activity Avoid activities requiring high physical exertion such as competitive sports, bodybuilding, climbing, or lifting heavy objects with the arm used for donation to prevent bruising.
-
Needle Site Care Keep the pressure bandage on for at least 4 to 6 hours. If bruising occurs, apply a warm compress after 1 day (2-3 times per day) to help the bruise fade quickly.
The Organizing Committee looks forward to the enthusiastic participation of all SOTRANS Group employees. Each drop of blood you give is not just a stored unit but a hope for life for many patients.
